STORY: The "Flat Butt" Mystery
I was presenting my Glute Girl Yoga class in Australia recently when a woman cornered me with a question that stopped me cold. She said, "When I look at women doing yoga, they all have flat yoga butts... and yet yoga is filled with glute-activating exercises!".
She wasn’t wrong. It’s the great yoga mystery: how can you spend hours on the mat and still feel like your "cheeks" are disappearing? I'm out to change that.

There’s a meme floating around saying yoga isn’t about tightening your ass, it’s about pulling your head out of it.
I say: why not do both?.
The "Yoga Butt" isn't a yoga problem; it’s a biomechanics problem. Too many people think yoga is just about becoming "uber-flexible". Forget that. At its simplest, yoga is a strength training class. You don't need heavy weights when your own body is the weight. Real transformation happens when you stop stretching aimlessly and start activating.

Are you expecting a "traditional" weight loss program that deals with weight loss only from a physical standpoint? Any physical practice you take on for health and wellness is a spiritual process. These are your obstacles come up. It comes up in power lifting, strongman, running, yoga, pilates, body pump, etc.

Are you expecting having a goal of counting calories and losing random pounds (is it muscle or fat?) without any interest in your overall state of health and well-being? This would be the low road. Meaning, you will do what it takes to lose "weight" even if there is a health consequence down the road.
