I will be holding a Free Meditation Workshop Series. This series will be held once a month. Click on the link to take you to the website page for details and message me if you would like to attend. I am recording these sessions. Read below the components to meditation. Take some or leave some.
In this series we are going to look at 7 ways to balance and ground. I am going to utilize the chakra system. It relates to our Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual bodies.
There are 7 components we will take into consideration. While I don’t want to make meditation complicated. There are several moving parts. Also, I don’t want you to make it complicated. Once we do that, we get overwhelmed and then we basically freeze and then won’t do it.
If we pause and think about what meditation is. Meditation is simply focus. When we are doing ‘moving’ mediations it can be easy to get into that meditative state. We have all done it. Got so lost in what we were doing, we lost track of time, felt like we were in another world, etc.
What can make sitting and meditating seem like there is no way we can do it. Is because we are sitting and doing ‘nothing’. We are addicted to the state of doing and moving. When we sit still and get antsy, anxiety, fidgetiness creeps in along with every thought we have ever had our entire lives. It’s not about emptying your mind. This is a common misconception. We are just simply getting you to focus on the 5 senses to ground ourselves. At the same time anything that does not matter in that moment is just on the outskirts.
Thoughts come and go. Thoughts are invited and uninvited. It’s about being conscious of this, so we develop control over our thoughts. This is a practice just like anything else. This is why having a theme or topic around your mediation is important.
We are going to breakdown each chakra and look at them individually. They do not work alone. The chakra system is like your body. No system works alone. One system or one aspect of the system may be over stimulated. While other systems are under stimulated because the overstimulated system is draining the others. This is why we are breaking it down. Focusing on one area. As we let go of our grip on the systems, we will get epiphanies as to how to help ourselves.
It’s quite magical.
The 7 Components to Balance and Ground in a Meditation
There is no need to focus on all of them. These are just aspects of meditation. Even if you are not focusing on these, they are there. You may or may not recognize them like this. They show themselves differently to us. Think of them as Universal Truths. You heard it somewhere. You might have heard it differently is all.

1. Archetypes: These are universal themes of the human condition. These can be illustrated in fairy tales, myths, parables, movies, etc. We all experience them at some point or another. It helps us with an understanding of emotional experiences. What we are experiencing and where we would like to go. We have an opportunity to transmute these energies into more life enhancing emotional states. Archetypes are more than just black and white. It helps us identify patterns that no longer serve us and to transmute them. There is a light and shadow aspect to each archetype. You can also think of it as too much of one and not enough of another. It’s time to balance.

2. Altars: Take them or leave them. Having something tangible in front of you just aids in meditation. You are not praying to the objects. These are tangible items that help you connect deeper with God, Source or the God of your Understanding. For me, it’s no different than a vision board or having your written goals hanging up somewhere for you to see them to be reminded of you want. It is the intention you are placing on it. If you are triggered by this, you don’t have to do this. The items just simply help. Catholics use rosary beads. Yogis use mala beads. This is your sacred space. You get to decide how it is laid out for you to get the most out of it.

3. Physical Exercise: This is where people begin to get confused about meditation. People immediately think that you are only supposed to be sitting in one spot. That is a way to do it for sure. You can also lie down. A lot of people will fall asleep. I used to do it this way all the time when I first opened my studio. It felt the best to me. I put on certain chakra music. I focused on the music or the sounds in the piece of music around the chakra. Again, it’s just focus. Physical exercise is a great way to start the process of meditation. These movements that I will show are very simple and very easy. It’s important that it starts that way. It rarely changes from simple. It’s like lifting weights. You may need to add the next layer. That’s rare for the basics. I have yet to stray from the basics. We will perform a move that is easy to do and easy to establish good form. It’s still physical. You don’t get to ignore technique just because we are making it easy.

4. Crystal Healing: This is another thing that can get people a bit guarded. The crystals are not healing you. You are not worshipping the crystals. Its intention is to help you focus. God made the crystals. It’s his/her energy coming through. You are still connecting to the God of your understanding to guide you. Or you don’t have to. I love rocks and crystals. I always have. Never saw them as anything other than pretty or pretty cool. Does it make me feel good to have some near me? Absolutely! It’s a connection to nature when I’m stuck inside because it’s too cold or stormy to be outside. You get to choose based off your values and beliefs. I’m not going to get too technical with cleansing the crystals. I want to make this simple. What does cleansing bring to mind? Cleaning? Yup. You can just wash them under water.

5.
Meditation: Psychologists have discovered that the brain cannot differentiate between what is real and what is realistically imagined. This is why there are many benefits to be derived from taking part in regular meditations and guided visualizations. Calming the mind automatically calms the body, helping to reduce stress and giving the physical self the opportunity to rebalance. They offer the rare opportunity to be still and silent and able to hear that inner voice of wisdom and intuition.

6. Daily Questions: They say Knowledge is power. But really Applied Knowledge in what the real Power is. The more we understand ourselves the better equipped we are to make positive changes in our lives. For me this is where I bring in astrology for clarity. The questions I will offer are in no way the only questions. They are simply there to get things going. They are there to help you see where you sabotage yourself. This is why I use astrology. Sometimes the questions don’t help me. I need to see it in a different way. All sorts of questions can be asked. If you need help. It feels like you are blocked or stuck. That’s ok. Again, I will bring up astrology because I can help give some more insight by looking at your chart. Journal or not to journal. It is a very powerful tool. I do not use it daily. I use it when I need it to help me sort garbage that’s in my head. Or I need to voice my side and my grievances. It doesn’t help. Writing is very powerful for releasing and transmuting these energies that feel like a loop that is taking you into a trance of anxiety. It breaks the inner conflict that is on a non-stop loop in your head. When you pour it out on paper. It loses its power.

7.
Affirmations: I can hear the dismissal of the affirmations! They don’t work. They are stupid. Blah! Blah! Blah! Well, of course they won’t work when you approach it like that. I’m not going to give percentages or stats here because it won’t sink in. The majority of your thoughts are negative affirmations and why positive life enhancing affirmations don’t seem to work. They don’t have a chance. Think about all the shit programming our parents, teachers, or any authority figure said or didn’t say to us. This is where it begins, and we carry it with us. Think about all the ‘jokes’ you say about yourself where you are devaluing yourself. But it’s a joke, right? Your mind and body are not differentiating that. Blowing it off as a joke or in passing is us disguising it as joke and not wanting people to know you really feel that way about yourself. Take notice one day how you talk to yourself. Would you let anyone else talk to your child or grandchild the way you talk to yourself? Nope. You shouldn’t either.
This is my take on meditation after years of studying different styles and interacting with all sorts of people to teach/coach them on meditation techniques. This is just like any other practice. You must master the basics. Otherwise, anything else that is more technical or complicated won’t matter and won’t be effective. This is because the basics were not mastered. I said it earlier, I rarely go past the basics. The basics are always first. It’s like your warm-up before exercise. You are prepping the mind and the body.
